Text Input: Message Sent When Pressing Enter During Japanese Input in Notes

When typing in Japanese in Notes, the Enter key is required to confirm text conversion. However, in this application (Web app and Mac OS app), pressing Enter not only confirms the conversion but also immediately sends the message.

This issue makes it difficult to properly input Japanese text, as users may accidentally send incomplete or incorrect messages.

Expected Behavior:

  • Pressing Enter should only confirm text conversion and should not send the message.

  • The message should only be sent after the user has completed their input and explicitly performs a send action.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Type Japanese text that requires conversion (e.g., "東京" → "toukyou", "国際" → "kokusai").

  2. Convert the text and press Enter to confirm the conversion.

  3. The message is immediately sent, even though the user only intended to confirm the conversion.

Environment:

  • OS: macOS [Version]

  • IME: Google Japanese Input (Google IME) / macOS Built-in IME
