Habits repeat: These habits are often invisible on the days we need them!
These habits are visible every X days from the day the habit was created (e.g. months ago). It would be more practical if these habits were visible every X days from LAST time we actually did the habit. To make it visible I have to change the date of the creation of the habit (months ago) every time I recognize that the habit is missing. So, for now this function cannot be trusted.
If I want to workout every 3. day, and I haven’t worked out for a week, then it would be logical for the habit to be visible every day until I actually do the habit.
(My device: Samsung s10, android 12)
Please fix 😊

Thank you very much for your thorough and pleasant reply 😊
However, if I set the goal 3 times per week, the habit ends up at the very end of the Journal. When many habits in the Journal it will not be so visible in the morning, which is the time I prefer to do my workout. So, I think it is best to just keep it as a daily habit and just that. In that way it will always be easily visible, also in the mornings.
My idea was about to just need to see the habit 3 days after my actual workouts, and not the other days. I thought that was the intention behind the feature, but I guess I should have posted it as a feature request and not a bug report. I don’t feel the request is completed, so perhaps I should edit it and post it again as a feature request

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback! We understand that the way "Every X Days" currently works feels a bit rigid for your workflow.
To clarify the design logic: in Habitify, the Journal is essentially a daily list. The Repeat setting acts as a scheduler that determines which specific dates a habit "exists" on that list. When you set a habit to repeat every 3 days, it creates a fixed calendar schedule from the start date. If you miss the habit on its scheduled day, the app doesn't automatically "move" it to the next day because the next scheduled appearance is already set for 3 days later.
If you want to work out approximately every 3 days but need the flexibility for the habit to stay visible until you actually do it, we recommend the following settings:
Repeat: Set this to Daily. This ensures the habit shows up on your Journal every single day so you don't lose track of it.
Goal: Set this to 3 times per week (or your preferred weekly frequency).
By using this setup, the habit will always be visible on your daily list, but your "Success" for the week is tied to completing it 3 times, regardless of which specific days you choose to do the workout. This gives you the "trust" in the system you're looking for without needing to manually change the creation date!
We hope this helps, and we'll certainly keep your feedback about "Last Completion" logic in mind as we continue to improve our scheduling features.

Thank you for the explanation, but I think the suggested workaround misses the core use case, so let me clarify.
This isn’t about workouts or habits I want to do “about 3 times a week.” It’s about recurring maintenance tasks such as cutting my nails, getting a haircut, cleaning the bathroom, or replacing a water filter. What these tasks have in common is:
The task should stay visible until I actually do it. If I don’t cut my nails on the scheduled day, the need doesn’t disappear. It should remain on my list until it’s done.
The next occurrence should be calculated from the day I completed it, not from the original start date. If I cut my nails 4 days late, the next reminder should come 21 days after that, not on the original fixed schedule. Otherwise the schedule drifts further away from reality every time I’m early or late.
The “Repeat: Daily + Goal: 3 times per week” setup doesn’t work for this at all. For a task I need to do once every 3 weeks, showing it every single day would just add noise to my Journal, and a weekly goal cannot express intervals like 21 days or 45 days.
This “repeat after completion” logic is a standard feature in many task apps (for example, Todoist’s “every!” syntax, TickTick, and Things), and it’s exactly what the original post was asking for. I’d strongly encourage adding it as an option, something like “Repeat every X days after last completion”, alongside the current fixed schedule. Supporting intervals longer than 30 days would also make it much more useful for maintenance tasks.
I really like Habitify and would love to manage these tasks in it, so I hope you’ll consider this seriously.
