I think it would be helpful to allow choosing between two modes when creating a mutual habit:
“Everyone must complete it” — the habit is only marked as done when all selected members have completed it (as you described).
“Anyone can complete it” — once one member marks the habit as done, it counts as completed for the group. For others who didn’t complete it themselves, the habit will appear as skipped in their lists — reflecting that it was taken care of, but not by them.
Here are a few examples to illustrate the difference:
Example A
• Option 1: Everyone in the family must brush their teeth.
• Option 2: One person in the family needs to wash the dishes — it doesn’t matter who.
Example B
• Option 1: Each team member must clean their own workspace.
• Option 2: One team member needs to turn off the lights before leaving — anyone can do it.
