Typically, with bad habits, the most effective way to reduce them is over time, not cold turkey. The pass or fail approach doesn’t acknowledge partial improvement and can make it feel like you’re failing even if you did better than yesterday.
For example, if someone wants to reduce screen time and the goal is to have it under 60mins per day and one day it ends up being 65 or 70 minutes, rather than pass or fail, it would be great to have the same functions as when setting a good habit, just in reverse. Eg. when you do more of the habit, you end up in the red. When you do less, you end up in the green.
I hope that makes sense! I think this would be an AMAZING improvement.
